Breaking: Ondo Pastor allegedly rapes, kills nursing mother inside church

A 37-year-old pastor, Kayode Salami, has been arrested by the police in Ondo State for allegedly raping and killing a nursing mother, Adejoke Oloje, inside his church.

According to reports, the incident occurred in January of this year at the Oke-Irapada C&S Church, where the deceased came to worship for the first time with her cousin, Aderonke.

The victim’s mother, Mrs. Deborah, narrated that Adejoke had suddenly left her house in Idanre without notice, prompting her to call her phone number. After locating her cousin, Aderonke, who claimed that Adejoke was staying in the church, Mrs. Deborah went to the church and found her daughter on the floor with her pant removed down her legs. She immediately raised an alarm, and Adejoke was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

The case was reported to the police in Idanre, who swung into action to apprehend the pastor. During his arrest, it was observed that Pastor Salami’s trouser was torn under, and he was not wearing any underwear. However, the pastor denied raping and killing the woman.

According to Pastor Salami, he knew Adejoke through her sister, Aderonke, and gave her a room in the church to stay pending when she would get a place to live. He denied asking her what happened between her and her sister and claimed that they did vigil together in the church. He also stated that he used to pass through her room and informed her whenever he was going out or coming in.

The case is currently under investigation, and the pastor has been remanded in custody. The victim’s mother has called for justice, saying that the culprit must not go unpunished.

Maureen Badejo

Recall that Maureen Badejo was slammed with a punitive damages in the sum of £100,000.00 by the UK court for defaming Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and his wife Pastor Mrs Folashade Olukoya.

Unfortunately for Maureen Badejo, she has not been able to pay a dime out of the damages to the Olukoyas since the court gave the verdict in 2021. Her failed attempt to appeal the said judgment which appeal court described as pointless and hopeless only complicated her case as interests in the judgment sum kept mounting which has now left the lawyer to the Olukoyas with no option than to file for Bankruptcy against her.

At the resumed hearing of the Bankcourt application today, Maureen Badejo claimed not to have received the legal papers for her bankruptcy petition even though same had been served on her and evidence was presented that she had been served. The court has however in its magnanimity given her one last reprieve and ordered a hearing be fixed for the first open date after 14 days.

Maureen Badejo has now offered Dr Daniel Olukoya £1000.00 per month. She is basically saying she needs 100 months (about 9 years) to pay her damages to the Olukoya’s.

The offer was without hesitation rejected by the lawyers to the Olukoyas as wholly unsatisfactory.
