Sources have revealed that former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, is currently ill and may have suffered a stroke in a part of his body. Approximately three weeks ago, he was urgently flown out of the country for medical treatment.

Initially, General Abubakar was taken to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for medical attention. However, it is now believed that he has been admitted to a specialist hospital in the United Kingdom. Accompanying him on this trip abroad is his wife, former First Lady Justice Fati Lami Abubakar.

Reports from the UK indicate that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, who is also General Abubakar’s in-law, traveled to Dubai after the All Progressives Congress Presidential primaries to show support for the former Head of State. It is expected that Governor Bello will be at General Abubakar’s hospital bedside in the UK for the same reason.

According to reliable sources, General Abubakar’s health has been deteriorating for some time, prompting his family to make the decision to seek medical care for him outside Nigeria. Last week, he was brought to London for urgent medical attention. The Chairman of the National Peace Committee has been unwell, and his absence was noted during the Gubernatorial Peace Pact signing and his 80th birthday celebration, which were both affected by his illness.

The health condition of General Abubakar is a cause for concern, but his doctors are working to stabilize him and restore his health. He recently turned 80 years old, and while plans to celebrate his milestone could not be realized due to his medical condition, family, friends, and associates are praying for his recovery.

General Abubakar is a highly respected figure in Nigeria, known for his contributions to democratic governance. Leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari and governors, have expressed their admiration for his accomplishments and patriotism. It is hoped that with appropriate medical care, General Abubakar will soon be able to return to Nigeria in improved health.

Maureen Badejo

Recall that Maureen Badejo was slammed with a punitive damages in the sum of £100,000.00 by the UK court for defaming Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and his wife Pastor Mrs Folashade Olukoya.

Unfortunately for Maureen Badejo, she has not been able to pay a dime out of the damages to the Olukoyas since the court gave the verdict in 2021. Her failed attempt to appeal the said judgment which appeal court described as pointless and hopeless only complicated her case as interests in the judgment sum kept mounting which has now left the lawyer to the Olukoyas with no option than to file for Bankruptcy against her.

At the resumed hearing of the Bankcourt application today, Maureen Badejo claimed not to have received the legal papers for her bankruptcy petition even though same had been served on her and evidence was presented that she had been served. The court has however in its magnanimity given her one last reprieve and ordered a hearing be fixed for the first open date after 14 days.

Maureen Badejo has now offered Dr Daniel Olukoya £1000.00 per month. She is basically saying she needs 100 months (about 9 years) to pay her damages to the Olukoya’s.

The offer was without hesitation rejected by the lawyers to the Olukoyas as wholly unsatisfactory.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos has also been brought into the investigation.

Confirming the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Public Relations Officer, stated, “He is to appear in court in the coming days.”
